IIM Raipur Organises Financial Literacy Campaign

With an objective to create awareness among the people on digital transactions, students of Indian Institute of Management, Raipur organised financial literacy and financial inclusion campaign at a village called Boriyakalan which is located on the outskirts of the city.

The campaign was carried out by 'Finatix - The Finance Club' of IIM-Raipur. The preliminary objective of this programme is to promote awareness about various schemes of government and digital payments. The awareness campaign will help the people to get more information on government schemes so that they can avail them. The campaign is a significant step in making villagers proceed towards a cashless economy.

For carrying out the campaign, students made use of various audio-visual aids to explain various ways of digital payments, i.e., SMS banking, PoS machines and mobile wallet. The campaign was divided into two phases. In the initial phase, awareness camp was carried out on various government schemes and the second phase focused on digital payments.

One of the students explained that the government has been introducing various schemes for the benefit of rural people and they are not availing the benefits of these due to lack of awareness. Therefore, to address the issue, IIM-Raipur has taken a positive step towards promoting awareness on government schemes. The campaign includes explaining the villagers regarding the benefits, execution and terms of the schemes.

The awareness camp was successful and received appreciation from the villagers. On this occasion, VISAKA was launched which will promote digital payments in villages.
