IIM Ranchi to Establish Governance Centre as a Tribute to Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee
Indian Institute of Management Ranchi has decided to launch the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Center for Leadership, Policy and Governance at its campus. Later, IIM Ranchi also plans to launch a full-time undergraduate programme in the field.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee was one of the greatest leaders in the history of India and as a mark of respect towards him and to pay a tribute and follow his legacy, the Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi (IIM-R) has decided to launch the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Center for Leadership, Policy & Governance (ABVCLPG) at its campus. With this, the main focus of the institution will be to establish a world-class center to nurture policy professionals into policy leaders and bridge the gap between leadership skills, policy expertise & complications of governance & institutions.
The activities of the center would primarily include a year-long policy fellowship, publication of journals, conferences and formal discussions in the next two years. Later, the institute also plans to launch a full-time undergraduate program in leadership, policy & governance that will lay emphasis on the history of Indian texts, leadership, policy and governance.

Further, IIM Ranchi is also planning to collaborate with various government, corporate entities to perform researches to influence and shape both political and corporate governance.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was an Indian politician who served as the Prime Minister of India thrice. He was a member of the Parliament of India & was elected to the Lok Sabha. He was honored with the prestigious Bharat Ratna by the former President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee in the year 2015. Earlier, PM Modi had also declared Vajpayee’s Birthday - 26th December as Good Governance Day. Shri Vajpayee breathed his last on 16th August 2018.
