IIM Ranchi to Work with UNICEF for Child Rights Protection

Here is a paradigm shift in IIM Ranchi from its class management programme to the real practical world as the institute has come forward to take lead in good samaritan work for the protection of child rights. In order to achieve this, the institute has signed a memorandum with an international organisation.

The institute has signed a memorandum with UNICEF to collaborate together for child right protection, at its campus in Suchana Bhavan. The MoU was signed on Friday, 9th December 2016.

The two entities have agreed to set up a Centre for Policy Advocacy and Management (CPAM) and contribute to policy making so that the interests of thousands of children are protected.

Madhulika Jonathan, Head of UNICEF Jharkhand, while addressing on the occasion said that UNICEF is changing its goal from short term to large scale engagement. The organisation would like to work towards the sustainable development of children, particularly in Jharkhand.

Under the CPAM programme, different scholars will be invited to be part of the visiting Scholar Programme. Its centre will be based in IIM-Ranchi.

Centre for Policy Advocacy and Management (CPAM) will play several roles such as -

• Identifying the problems of children
• Suggesting solutions to policy-makers
• Collaborating with governmental agencies
• Organising awareness programs
• Developing and strengthening the new and existing programs and policies
• Involving corporate houses under their social responsibility activities

Anindya Sen, Interim Director of IIM-Ranchi, said that faculty members will contribute to policy management of Government of Jharkhand. It will also work as a learning curve for experts in the areas of child care, child health, nutrition as well as maternal health.
