IIM Sambalpur Holds First Convocation Ceremony
On this occasion, a total number of 49 PGP students of the 2015-17 batch were awarded diplomas.
Indian Institute of Management, Sambalpur organized its first convocation ceremony in a grand manner on April 6, 2017. On this occasion, a total number of 49 PGP students of the 2015-17 batch were awarded diplomas.
Addressing the students, Arundhati Bhattacharya, Chairperson of Indian Institute of Management, Sambalpur indicated that the reputation of the institute depends upon the behavior and conduct of students. The students have the power to make or break the reputation of an institution. Therefore, students are the key factors for the development of an institute. She advised the students to perform ordinary things in an extraordinary manner and develop creativity and innovative thoughts.

Arundhati Bhattacharya also holds the position of the Chairperson of State Bank of India. She was appointed as the Chairperson of IIM Sambalpur on January 15, 2016. She will hold the position for five years from the date of appointment.
The chief guest of the convocation ceremony was Chief Secretary of Odisha, A. P. Padhi. Delivering the convocation address, he explained that Odisha has emerged as the major education hub in the eastern part of India. Various higher educational institutes are coming up in the state that offer a wide range of courses in management, medicine, engineering, commerce, science, and humanities.

He further indicated that opting management course has become common among most of the students after the globalization process. He hoped that IIM Sambalpur would achieve greater heights in the coming years.
The first batch of PGP course at Indian Institute of Management, Sambalpur commenced on September 23, 2015. Currently, the institute is functioning from a temporary campus.
