IIMs Start Preparing for Summer Placements 2020: Virtual Placements To Be Conducted This Year
The placement cells of various IIMs have confirmed that they have started inviting companies for this summer placements in 2020. The placement process is scheduled to begin in December, after a delay of 1 month.
The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have begun preparing for the summer placement season. Despite, the academic session being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, IIMs have started an early preparation to ensure that this year's graduating batch gets the best possible employment opportunities possible.
However, there may be a delay in the campus interviews in the summer placements of IIMs. The interviews are usually conducted from October to November but this year they are expected to be conducted in December, thus causing a slight delay in the campus recruitments of IIMs. However, the 2020 summer placements at IIMs are expected to be conducted in the online mode.

It has been reported that the companies invited by IIMs for summer placements have also given a positive response to the call. IIMs decide to begin the 2020 session of their batches virtually through online classes. Soon after the commencement of online classes at IIMs, the institutes had started sending an invitation to companies for their summer placements.
Amit Kamra, the Chairperson of Placements at IIMA, has informed sources that the summer internships at IIMs have been delayed by six weeks and the placements are also expected to begin a month later than usual. The interviews at IIMA are scheduled to be conducted from 1 to 7 December.

IIM Kozhikode has also started preparing students and inviting companies for summer placements. The institute has also specified a delayed timeline for this year's placement and confirmed that the placements will be taking place 'through a digital interface'. The institute has further maintained that placements are expected to last longer than last year.
Meanwhile, it is yet to be seen what methods will be used by companies to engage students for summer internships, which are a mandatory part of the course.
