IIM-Trichy Aims to Become a Global Institute in the Next 10 Years
The institute is planning to shift its campus which is being developed at the cost of Rs. 584 crore.
Indian Institute of Management, Trichy is aiming to become India’s major global institution in the next ten years. The officials of the institute said that IIM-Trichy is carrying out development activities as per HRD Ministry’s plans. The institute is planning to shift its campus which is being developed at the cost of Rs. 584 crore.
Prafulla Agnihotri, Director of IIM-Trichy, said that the institute has been performing exceptionally well in three areas, i.e., placement, infrastructure and faculty. He revealed that the institute is aiming to become one of the major global institutes in the next ten years. For this purpose, the institute is taking steps to attract international faculty and students. He also stated that the new campus is being developed as per international standards so that Indian students do not feel the need to go to foreign countries for higher education.

The new campus will start functioning from January 2017. Currently, the institute is being operated through a temporary campus at National Institute of Technology, Trichy. Tamil Nadu government had allotted 170 acres of land for the construction of the new campus. The new campus will have an administrative block, student housing, staff housing, food court and other facilities. HRD Ministry has been funding the construction of the new campus.
The classrooms are being designed as per Harvard model where the classrooms are either bell-shaped or well-shaped. The library is being designed as a place of learning rather than a place of reading, thereby giving more comfort to the users.
