IIM Visakhapatnam to Introduce Doctoral Programme in Management

IIM Visakhapatnam has decided to introduce a new course from the next academic year i.e., Fellow Programme in Management - FPM (Doctoral Programme in Management). Initially, the premier management institute will offer five seats in the doctoral course. IIM Visakhapatnam is the first institute among the new IIMs to introduce an inter-disciplinary course in research.

Director of IIM Visakhapatnam, Professor Chandrasekhar revealed that the HRD Ministry granted approval to begin FPM course from the next academic year. The FPM course is equivalent to Ph.D, and it a full-time residential doctoral programme, he added.

FPM is a globally recognised course for rigorous and inter-disciplinary research in the area of business management. Candidates who choose FPM course may specialise in one of the areas like: -

• Entrepreneurship
• Marketing
• Finance & Accounting
• Management
• Organisational Behaviour
• Human Resources Public Policy

IIM Visakhapatnam Director further mentioned that the institute needs experienced faculty for the FPM course. For the initial years, IIM Visakhapatnam will take the help of its mentor institute IIM Bangalore for FPM course, he confirmed.

IIM Visakhapatnam began its fourth batch of PGPM (Post Graduate Programme in Management) on July 23, 2018. This year, 105 students secured admission in PGPM course of IIM Vizag.

The PGP batch of 2016-18 recorded 100% placements. The average salary offered to students was Rs. 16.3 lakh per annum. IIM Visakhapatnam is expected to move to its permanent campus by 2021.
