IIMC to Introduce Three New PG courses from 2020

According to sources, three full-time Master’s level programmes in health journalism, in association with Ayush Ministry has been vouched for by the Executive Council (EC) of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC). These programmes would reportedly be held in three campuses, namely Kottayam, New Delhi and Dhenkanal from the next academic session.

The three programmes would be on communication governance, health media and health communication. Although the exam pattern would supposedly be similar to the current PG Diploma entrance exams, interested graduates should have prior knowledge of health and governance along with language and knowledge skills.

Application forms are usually released in the month of March after which the institute’s head office is likely to launch these two-year courses.

Mrinal Chatterjee, the IIMC Dhenkanal in-charge, commented, that the new postgraduate course will be available soon, but they are yet to finalise which campus will be offering the new PG courses.

The existing diploma courses would be continued and conducted in the same way The availability of the programmes in regional languages of the states with the IIMC campuses is still undecided. The EC is, however, yet to finalise the number of seats and curriculum for these courses.

IIMC is one of the oldest Mass Communication institutes which runs under the Government of India. The school offers one-year PG Diploma courses in Hindi journalism, English journalism, Urdu journalism, TV & Radio, public relations and advertising. IIMC has five regional centres across India, Aizawl (Mizoram), Dhenkanal (Odisha), Jammu (J&K), Amravati (Maharashtra), and Kottayam (Kerala).
