IIMs Decide to Meet Twice a Year to Enhance Education Quality

IIMs, the premier Indian business schools have mutually decided to meet twice a year and share the best practices in the fields of research, administration and teaching so that the best methods could be adapted at all the institutes in order to enhance the quality of education.

The decision was taken at the inaugural of the Pan-IIM World Management Conference 2016 that was attended by 13 of the top IIMs. This was the fourth edition of the conference that was organized by IIM Ahmedabad. The conference has earlier been held at IIM Indore in 2015, IIM Kozhikode in 2014 and IIM Calcutta in 2013.

The aim of the conference was to promote the idea 'India towards better governance'. Another objective was to invite researchers to participate in the management lessons provided by public and private organizations that can be implemented in the practices of the Indian government and bodies associated with it.

Director of IIM Lucknow, Ajit Prasad talked about the decision and said that they have decided to meet at least twice a year so that they can learn from each other’s activities and create a homogenous system.

The IIM directors have also decided to work on improving the quality of development programmes for faculty, promoting doctoral programmes and encouraging research initiatives. IIMs have also been trying to include faculty members from minorities such as SC and ST.

IIM Kashipur has already begun a special drive that will focus on enrolling doctoral students from SC and ST communities for the fellowship programmes. The programme will also include faculty training workshops. Within five years the progress and productivity of the programme will be evaluated, said Gautam Sinha, Director, IIM Kashipur.
