IIMs Launch Offbeat Courses to Reduce Stress & Impart Leadership Skills
- Some of the top IIMs in India have started offering off-beat courses to reduce the stress levels of students.
- The courses will be offered to students enrolled at these institutes as electives during the course.
India’s top management institutes, i.e. the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) have launched some off-beat programmes in order to encourage spirituality and human values that can help aspiring managers in the future. The aim of these programmes is to reduce stress as the courses and academic activities sometimes exhaust students.
IIM Ahmedabad is the most recent to join the list of IIMs that are offering innovative courses. The institute will soon provide classed on Bhagavad Gita to the candidates enrolled in the PGP and PGPx programmes. The classes will be offered under electives from the upcoming session. Following are the courses offered by some of the top IIMs.

IIM Lucknow will also offer a course in order to produce better managers and reduce the stress of the students at campus. The name of the programme is Human Values and Responsible Citizenship and it will start from June this year.
Next in the list is IIM Kozhikode with its completely different course to develop competitive strategy and discovering self, namely Game of Poker. The programme is offered as an elective to students who are enrolled in PGP courses.
IIM Indore also offers an outbound programme involving trekking through the Himalayan ranges in order to engage students in real-life experiences. The course is offered to second year PGP students to take their minds off stress.

Another aim of these programmes is to create all-round managers who can take up different responsibilities in the corporate world. These courses will also enable them to take up challenges in the ever-changing corporate world, the professors of the prestigious IIMs added.
