IISc Bangalore Ranked 38th in Global Ranking, Graduates Deemed Highly Employable

According to employers, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru is one of the best higher education institutes in India and produces the most skillful graduates that are needed in the industry. As a result, the institute has been ranked 38th among 150 global universities.

The California Institute of Technology leads the list of the institutes that produces most employable graduates. Massachusetts Institute of Technology is placed second in the list and Harvard University is third.

With the help of the feedback taken from 2,500 recruitment managers of reputed international companies, Times Higher Education has published the sixth annual Global University Employability Rankings. According to the rankings, recruiters are more interested in hiring graduates from US institutions.

Some of the recognized global employers that are spread out in India mentioned in their feedback that adaptability, communication skills and the ability to work as part of the team are some of the skills that they value the most in graduates. Other non-academic skills are the secondary criteria of the employers.

Among the Indian employers, skills that value apart from those mentioned above are flexibility, motivation and employee’s skill to fulfill targets under pressure.

The editor of Times Higher Education World University Rankings, Phil Baty said that higher education from a good university is a student’s path to diverse opportunities but the priority of every student is to launch himself in the industry with a successful career graph.

The sixth Global University Employability Ranking is an initiative started by Times Higher Education to make students aware of the good universities that they should opt for higher education.

The survey aimed at presenting the perspective of managers who are responsible for graduate recruitment at multinational companies and recruit graduates from all over the world. Through the survey, the employers elaborated what qualities they look for in universities and the universities those are successful in producing the most skillful and industry-ready graduates.

The report has been completed by combining the feedback drawn from 20 countries and reveals some clear instructions in what employers look for in graduates. For example, employers in India, Britain, France and US recruit students with strong communication skills. On the other hand, Chinese and German employers hire students on the basis of adaptability.
