IISc Collaborates with Amazon to Offer Big Data Fellowship
With an objective to encourage young researchers who wish to work on foundations of data science, Indian Institute of Science is going to offer an 18-month postdoctoral fellowship programme.
With an objective to encourage young researchers who wish to work on foundations of data science, Indian Institute of Science is going to offer an 18-month postdoctoral fellowship programme. For this purpose, IISc has collaborated with Amazon and the fellowship programme has been titled as ‘Amazon IISc Young Scientist Big Data Fellowship’.

Young researchers who wish to lead their research programmes can avail this fellowship. Only the selected candidates will have a chance to avail the fellowship, and these candidates have to publish effective papers during the research period. Later, the candidates’ research paper is hosted at the Department of Computer Science and Automation, Indian Institute of Science.
Recently, Manipal University also collaborated with Indian Institute of Science to predict various defects of DNA thought non-invasive technology. The primary objective of the research is to figure out how efficient are the small molecule metabolites at the microscopic or cellular level. On the other hand, one of the professors for IISc also won Infosys Prize for his exceptional contribution in the areas of pulmonary and cardiovascular health.

IISc has been performing exceptionally well in research. The institute bagged the 14th rank in among the top 300 universities. Emphasis on research and teaching environment are the key factors which enabled the institute to achieve a high rank. The institute is also being supported and funded by the government. The improvement in infrastructure and interdisciplinary research made the institute bag 14th position.
