IISc Hosts Open Day 2020 - Major Highlights
Special arrangements were made for physically challenged students, senior citizens and pregnant women at the IISc "Open Day" event.
IISc or Indian Institute of Science hosted its annual “Open Day” event on the 29th February 2020 which was witnessed by both the students and the general public. The IISc “Open Day” event hosted various activities like luminance illusion, human brain anatomy, electricity using instant snow from potato etc. The event was organised between 09:00 HRS and 17:00 HRS on 29th February. People including students and science & technology enthusiasts had an opportunity to witness the marvels of science and technology which were at display at the campus.
Exhibitions, Science Competitions, Quiz Contests, Presentations, Posters, Experimental Demonstrations and popular lectures featured at the IISc’s “Open Day” event which were at display in various centres and departments of IISc. The kid’s zone, which is into its fourth year his time, also became a centre of attraction for many young students.

Approximately 130 students from IISc worked day-in and day out to make this event a grand success. The models and experiments which were at display at the IISc were chosen from the NCERT textbooks. Additional entry and exit points were added to the Kid’s Zone this year.

12 e-rickshaws were present inside the IISc campus for the convenience of the visitors. The e-rickshaw service was free of cost for the visitors. An IISc official said that the e-rickshaw service was primarily provided to cater to the physically challenged kids, senior citizens and pregnant women who came to the “Open Day” event. Other than the free e-rickshaw service, the organisers also had 18 water kiosks and several other vantage spots arranged for the visitors. The visitors were also encouraged to carry their own water bottles.
