IIT Bhubaneswar Hosts its First Alumni Meet
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneshwar organized its first alumni meet from 14th April to 16th April.
Remembering the good old times and memories of the alumni, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneshwar organized its first alumni meet from 14th to 16th April. It was an opportunity for the alumni to participate at the new permanent campus for the first time. The campus has been built in the foothills of the majestic Barunei Hills. Fifty alumni members ranging across various batches from B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D. graced the meet with their presence.
The event began traditionally, the lamp lighting ceremony was carried out by the director of the institute, Prof. R.V.Rajakumar, along with other officials. The Director of the institute and the Dean of Alumni Affairs and International Relations, Prof. Swarup Kumar Mohapatra welcomed the alumni and appreciated the event.
He also shared his vision for getting the contribution of alumni in order to lead the college to greater heights as many of the students hold positions of responsibility in various academic institutions, private sector, PSUs and government organizations. Many of the alumni are successful entrepreneurs now providing jobs to others as well, added the Dean.

Later, the alumni walkd down memory lane to remember their days as students. They also witnessed some recent development in the infrastructure of the college.
In the evening, an enlightening panel discussion took place among the alumni, professors, Director HR, Sri Rajendra Kumar Senapati, Mr. Prasenjeeth Pati, Founder of Afixi Technology and OPTCL. The Major focus of the discussion was the participation of the alumni in the development of the institution.
The Alumni showed their willingness to help in various ways. This interaction helped the juniors to interact with the alumni and their seniors. The current batch of students had organized a Food Fest for dinner within the campus. As a tribute to their senior, the students put forth brilliant cultural performances.

The alumni were invited to a trip to the famous Konark Temple on the following day. Another panel discussion was organised in the college auditorium where the guests, as well as alumni, highlighted their views on strengthening the relations between industry and academia. A farewell programme was also organized on the last day. The three-day extravaganza program ended with a graceful note to meet again.
