IIT Bombay Collaborates with Blue Chip Oil Firms to Set Up Centre of Excellence
IIT-Bombay Collaborates with Bluechip Oil Firms to set up the centre of excellence in oil, gas and energy. The MoU was signed by heads of Indian Oil Corp (IOC), Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC), GAIL India, Bharat Petroleum Corp Limited (BPCL), Hindustan Petroleum Corp (HPCL), Oil India and Engineers India.
IIT Bombay has signed a pact with the country's seven bluechip oil firms to establish a Centre of Excellence in Oil, Gas and Energy. The centre will focus on collaborations and explore new technology which will help to improve quality and productivity in the field of energy.
Dharmendra Pradhan, Oil Minister signed a Memorandum of Understanding with IIT Bombay to set up Centre of Excellence. He said that the aim to link the energy sector with academics. The MoU will help in the innovation and new technological advancements. According to him, the industry trends are changing and the new jobs are replacing the old job profiles. With the new technology such as blockchain, AI, big data analytics making way into our everyday lives, the job roles are also changing.

The pact was signed by the heads of the blue-chip oil firms which includes Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC), Hindustan Petroleum Corp (HPCL), GAIL India, Oil India and Engineers India.

The centre of excellence will aim to develop research and technology in the field of oil, gas and energy. It will also work towards building sustainable solutions in the respective sector and to explore new opportunities. IIT Bombay will provide the centre with the required expertise for research projects and will also provide a platform for industry and academic interactions. The institute will also host conferences, workshops and training programmes for the same.
