IIT Bombay 57th Convocation: IITs Play a Crucial Role in Making India Education Leader says HRD Minister

The 57th convocation of IIT Bombay took place on August 10, 2019. Honourable Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal “Nishank" was the Chief Guest of the occasion. He congratulated IIT Bombay for being ranked among the top 200 in the QS world university rankings, Later, he addressed the graduating students and the gathering.
Addressing them, HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal “Nishank" Pokhriyal said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set the goal of establishing India as the world leader in education by 2024.
He said that IIT Bombay can make a significant contribution in addressing the challenges of climate change and in fulfilling development goals such as increasing India’s renewable energy capacity. According to him, India has become the world's most favourite investment destination with the coming up of programmes such as ‘Make in India’, ‘Digital India’, ‘Startup India’ and ‘Standup India’ schemes.

He further talked about various initiatives being implemented by the government in transforming the education in the country. He asked the students to plant a sapling on their birthday every year as it is the little things in life that make a big difference. He also urged the students to conserve water.
Earlier, he held a live interaction via National Knowledge Network, with students of all IITs, on the topic ‘Navbharat ka Nirman IITs ke Sath’.
