IIT Bombay Professor Asks Director to Set Up Anti-cheat Squads

A Mathematics professor of IIT Bombay wrote an email to the Director of the institute asking him to set up anti-cheat squads. In his email, the professor highlighted the increasing cases of cheating during the exams.
The professor reported that there have been incidents where imposters have taken the exam of students in order to help them pass. He also mentioned that there have been times when students have been caught carrying mobile phones in the examination hall.
Therefore he demanded that there should be anti-cheating squads to stop cheating practices in the exam and ensuring fair conduct. The email was also marked to the Board of Governors of IIT Bombay and Union HRD Minister and stated that the integrity of the institute is compromised if such practices are not stopped.

Officials from the institute have said that disciplinary action will be taken against the students who are found to be involved in cheating practices. They also informed that many such students caught under the circumstances have already been penalised.
The administration of IIT Bombay has installed CCTV cameras across various exam and academic buildings to eliminate malpractices. The institute has also designed a policy to punish those who are caught cheating. The punishment can vary from losing a credit point to getting failed grades.

Officials have reported incidents where students have been caught cheating despite being explained the consequences. The administration added that this is one of the major concerns of the institutes and steps will be taken to resolve this problem as soon as possible.
