IIT Delhi Signs Agreement with Sona Comstar to Support Innovative Startups
IIT Delhi has signed an agreement with Sona Comstar to support innovative startups. Sona Comstar is a leading auto component manufacturer in India.
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has signed an agreement with Sona Comstar (A leading auto component manufacturer in India) to support innovative startups. Under this agreement, the institute will receive mentorship and fund of up to Rs. 80 lakhs with an option to retain Intellectual Property (IP).
According to the institute, it is the first of its kind agreement related to industry support programme. Kiran Deshmukh, the Chief Technology Officer of Sona Comstar said that the collaboration with IIT Delhi will help the creation of new Intellectual Property (IP) and support innovation for Make in India products.

Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao, the Director of IIT Delhi said that the institute wants to collaborate with industry to improve the startup programmes along with the academics and it will be a good initiative to quickly bring new technologies to market.
According to Dr. Anil Wali, the Managing Director of Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FIIT), IIT Delhi said that the partnership between the institute and Sona Comstar will be an opportunity for innovation and development of indigenous technologies.
