IIT Delhi: Alumnus Donates Rs. 10 Crores for Sports Complex

An alumnus of the well-known institute, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi contributed to the construction and development of sports complex by donating Rs. 10 crores.

Mr. Saurabh Mittal, the former co-founders of the India Bulls group completed his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi in the year 1995. He further got his MBA degree in the year 1999 from Harvard Business School where he was also appointed as a Baker Scholar.

Mittal is presently the chairman of Mission Holdings, which is his private investment vehicle whose headquarter is situated in Singapore.

An official from the IIT Delhi told that when Mittal visited the national capital, he handed a cheque of Rs. 10 crores to Mr. V Ramagopal Rao, the director of IIT-Delhi as a donation.

The new sports complex which will be named as the "Mittal Sports Complex". It is expected to be completed by next year. Around Rs. 22 crores is expected as an expenditure for the construction of the same.

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is a government engineering institution situated in Delhi. It is among the two educational institutes in India which have been listed in Quacquarelli Symonds’ or QS list of top 200 educational institutes globally declared in the year 2015.

IIT Delhi aims to develop human potential to the maximum so that intellectually capable and imaginatively gifted students can explore and grow in various professions. The institute also has an IIT Delhi Alumni Associations with more than 33,000 alumni involved in this association. For this purpose, it has an office on the campus and centres across the world.
