IIT Delhi Celebrates 50th Convocation Ceremony: 2,042 Students Graduate
The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has recently celebrated the 50th Convocation Ceremony on 2nd November 2019. The Chairman of ISRO, K Sivan was the chief guest, where 2,042 students, 825 from UG and 1,217 from PG were awarded their degrees and Medals.
On 2nd November 2019, the students of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, along with their faculty celebrated the 50th Convocation Ceremony. The Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), K Sivan, was called on to be the chief guest for the convocation ceremony. To mark the milestone, the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi released a commemorative stamp and a special cover as well.
During the IIT Delhi 50th convocation ceremony, a total of 2042 students graduated Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes from the Institute, with 825 students graduating undergraduate programmes while 1,217 graduated postgraduate programmes.
The IIT Delhi Convocation Ceremony 2019 also saw a host of students being awarded Gold and Silver Medals. Several distinguished guests and entrepreneurs were also awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award and Distinguished Alumni Service Award.

IIT Delhi 50th Convocation Ceremony Medallists
In this year’s Convocation Ceremony, which is the Golden Jubilee ceremony for the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, many students, who had achieved the highest ranks in their respective fields were also awarded Gold and Silver Medals.

At the 50th Convocation Ceremony, IIT Delhi also awarded the Distinguished Alumni Awards 2019 various head of different companies who have contributed significantly in different areas. The list includes;

Professor Srinivasan Keshav - Cheriton School of Computer Science (University of Waterloo) - For his outstanding contributions teaching and research
Binny Bansal - Co-Founder of Flipkart - For His Contributions in entrepreneurship
Distinguished Alumni Service Award 2019
IIT Delhi also awarded the Distinguished Alumni Service award to several high ranking officials from different organisations that have made considerable contributions towards the development of the Institute. The awardees are as follows:
Amarjit Singh Bakshi, Managing Director and Chairman of Bakshi Group
Arun Duggal Chairman of ICRA Ltd., Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited and International Asset Reconstruction Company.

At the 50th IIT Delhi Convocation, ISRO Chairman, K Sivan and the Director of IIT Delhi took the opportunity to announce a partnership, that will facilitate the establishment of a Space Technology Cell at the campus. Through the Cell, both IIT Delhi and ISRO plan to enhance the research collaborations. IIT Delhi aims to work on projects with the ISRO to promote and increase the research undertaken in the area of space technology.
