IIT Delhi to Conduct First Ever 'Industry Day' on September 23
- Industry-Day at IIT Delhi will witness participation of industry professionals who will discuss possibilities of combining research and consultancy to provide effective solutions.

One of the most sought-after engineering colleges of the country, the Indian Institute of Technology, also known as IIT Delhi or IIT-D, is all set to organise its first ever 'Industry Day' on Saturday, 23rd September 2017.
The theme of IIT Delhi's 'Industry Day' will revolve around 'Building a desirable ecosystem to link Industry, IIT Delhi and the Society'. The primary objective and aim behind conducting the 'Industry Day' at IIT Delhi is to provide a common platform for the research community, academicians and the industry professionals to come forward to discuss and find solutions to the problems which are currently being faced by the industry in particular. Further, the connect will also enable the stakeholders to form partnerships to come together and work for the benefit of the society at large.

More than 200 experts from industries and sectors including Healthcare, Environment, Energy, Defence, Smart Cities etc. will be a part of the 'Industry Day' event at IIT Delhi this week. They will discuss the implications and possibilities of merging research and consultancy apart from devising ways to bridge the gap between industry and students through the correct type of academic training. Some of the eminent people who are expected during the event include the following among others:

- Dr Maharaj Kishan Bhan, Former Secretary - DBT, GOI

- Dr. Sanjay Singh, CEO, Gennova Pharmaceuticals
The involvement of key experts will facilitate the students to understand the ongoing work that is being done in different sectors and how technology can be transferred for better use and output. The stakeholders will discuss the matters which directly or indirectly impact the relationship between academia and industry during the event.

While highlighting the 'Industry Day' event lined up, IIT Delhi Director, Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao said that the 'Industry Day' will be a platform to strengthen and collaborate with industries for the benefit of more than 2500 Ph.D. scholars and about 500 faculty members associated with IIT Delhi. The event will also bring an impetus to close to 2000 research publications and 100 patents that are filed year after year so that the research which is being carried out can be turned into real products. Rao further took pride in highlighting the fact that IIT Delhi has been a part of more than 350 industrial projects with about 130 corporates in the past five years.
