IIT Delhi Signs Mou with National Institute of Immunology

IIT Delhi has signed an MoU with the National Institute of Immunology, Delhi. The MoU between IIT Delhi and NII Delhi will faciliate joint research and academic programmes.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Institute of Immunology, Delhi. Under this MoU, the two institutes will form a programme for academic cooperation in the areas of mutual interest, like Ph.D courses, research activities in collaboration and exchange of students.

The MoU was signed by the Director of IIT, Professor V Ramgopal Rao and by the Director of NII, Professor Amulya K Panda and some senior functionaries of both institutions were also present. It was signed on 13th March 2019, Wednesday and will be valid for five years. It may also continue beyond that after being reviewed.

IIT Delhi and NII Delhi will carry out joint research by the submission of joint research proposals to some external funding agencies. The institutions will also initiate schemes to carry out collaborative research. They will organise conferences, seminars, workshops and short term Continuing Education Programmes together on topics that will be of mutual interest.

The MoU permits IIT and NII to exchange faculty and students on a reciprocal basis for a limited period of time. This will be for research and education and both institutions will jointly engage in training and research programmes that will be sponsored by the funding agencies.

Professor V RAmgopal Rao said that one of the main objectives of this MoU is to enable them to initiate twenty interdisciplinary projects of research between the scientists from NII Delhi and the faculty of IIT Delhi. Professor Amulya K Panda expressed his gratitude on being given a chance to collaborate with his alma mater, IIT Delhi, and said that this will give a very productive outcome for the future.

IIT Delhi has a strong research base in the field of engineering and technology and also the state of the art facilities of material characterization, nanoscale fabrication, medical devices, Artificial Intelligence, robotics, biomaterial and functional textiles.

NII Delhi, on the other hand, has a strong research base in immunological research, biological sciences, and diseases. The state of the art facilities of these institutions is of one of the most advanced animal houses and analytical or molecular biology research facility.
