The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi) is all set to introduce several programmes for engineering aspirants as well as working professionals. These new courses will be provided by IIT Delhi in part-time mode and the classes are to be held on weekends only. Apart from launching new courses, the institute will also make the existing course of M.Tech in Instrument Technology available in part-time mode. Some new courses including MSR (Master of Science Research) will be introduced in both the modes, full-time and part-time.

IIT Delhi will also offer certificate courses that are said to be ‘industry-level’ in order to expand its outreach programme. The certificate programmes will include subjects such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Instrumental Engineering, a framework for sensor networks, cyber-physical system engineering, etc. These courses will be offered by the Centre for Sensors, Instrumentation and Cyber-Physical System Engineering (abbreviated as SeNSE), the inauguration of which was done on 6th August 2019.

The faculty to teach these new courses will be taken from the departments of IIT Delhi and from SeNSE, which is an interdisciplinary unit, in order to mentor and teach research at the centre. The head of SeNSE, Subrat Kar, informed that the authorities are hiring more teachers for the Centre and there are up to 13 vacancies as of now.

The regular courses will have the capacity of 21 students and the certificate courses are expected to admit 20 students in each course. The application process for M.Tech courses will begin after the GATE 2020 results are declared. Candidates can apply for the new courses at IIT Delhi through the online and offline mode both.
