An MoU has been signed between Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and National Institute of Immunology (NII) Delhi. The MoU will come with a joint PhD Programme to develop new technologies that will help in treating diseases like tuberculosis, cancer, etc.

The director of IIT Delhi, V Ramgopal Rao said that the partnership will bring biotechnologists and engineers together to develop technologies that will be applicable in the field medicine and in the treatment of the diseases like cancer. He also states that the faculty members for the programme will be funded by them for the first two years after which they can seek out external funding.

Rao specifies that the researchers will work towards studying and creating projects on topics like cell biology, tuberculosis, cancer, etc. They will also work on understanding the mechanical properties of the cell that are affected by the disease as well as developing technologies that will help the treatment for such disease be smooth.
