IIT Delhi to Set Up School of Design for Creative Buds

One of the premier technical institutes of India, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi has come with a good news that the institute is going to set up School of Design soon. IIT Senate has given the nod for the proposal, however, the Board of Governors is yet to approve the proposal. The institute is planning to place the proposal before the Board of Governors by next month.

Director of IIT Delhi, Mr. V. Ram Gopal Rao revealed that engineers play a significant role in designing software or hardware for the gadgets or machines. However, the people who have specialisation in product design will play a significant role in designing the external part of the mobile or a gadget. They do their best to design the mobile or gadget in an attractive way. Students with high creativity will be beneficial through the School of Design of IIT Delhi. The school will bring out the hidden talent from the students and expose it to the industry, he added.

The proposed School of Design of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi will offer four-year Bachelor’s course in Design (B.Des), and two-year Master’s in Design (M.Des).

Once the proposal for the establishment of School of Design gets approval, the institute will conduct the admission process through an All-India entrance test. The institute will not conduct any special entrance examination to admit the students. The institute will become a part of national level entrance examination or design courses.

Currently, Indian Institute of Technology is offering Master of Design course. However, it has only four faculty members with a limited intake.
