IIT Gandhinagar Felicitate Padma awardee Danino
Guest faculty at the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, Michel Danino was awarded the Padma Shri this Republic day.
Guest faculty at the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, Michel Danino was awarded the Padma Shri this Republic day. Danino is a French-born Indian citizen who was honored with the award for his contribution towards ‘Literature & Education’ on Thursday, 26 January, 2017.
His achievement and work was also celebrated by IIT Gandhinagar. Danino received the recognition from the institute for his contributions in the field of Education. He teaches programmes related to Indian Culture and Civilization. Also, he played an essential role in the establishment of Centre for Archaeological Sciences at IIT Gandhinagar.

Danino has always emphasized the importance of culture and its impact on the civilizations. Talking about his desire of coming to India, Danino mentioned in his acceptance speech that he came searching for a purpose and understanding the meaning of life.
Danino left France and came to India in 1977 when he was merely 21 years of age. He left his career and family in search of answers that he thought would be answered in India.
Talking about his fascination with the Indian culture, he said that the culture here is very deeply rooted. He further added that the purpose and meaning of life have been constantly questioned and talked about in the ancient Indian culture.

Danino also said that India’s depths of culture resulted in the formation of a strong society that adds value and binds people together in order to survive.
