IIT Gandhinagar Initiates Industry - Academia Partnership

Connections 2016- a two-day Industry Conclave is being organised by Indian Institute of Technology-Gandhinagar (IITGn) to stimulate the Industry-academia partnership on 30th September.

A press release from the institute says that the event aims at creating a common platform for academia and industry to address technological challenges. The conclave will also host discussions on the challenges of manufacturing as well as research in a broad range of areas like-
- Semiconductors
- Medical Electronics
- Power Systems
- Pharmaceuticals
- Catalysts
- Materials
The conclave will be attended by several prominent leaders and CEOs from over 50 companies and the official from Indian Army. Professor Sudhir K Jain, IITGn Director said that they are expecting that talent and Infrastructure will be shared across academia and industry through the emerging partnerships from the event. The interaction with industry is supposed to address various issues on the challenges of society like-
- Sanitation
- Low-Cost Construction Technology
- Water Purification

He also said that IITGn gives special emphasis on addressing the problems that affect the society and the economy. IIT-Gn has good contact with several companies. Some of them are -

- Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation
IIT-Gn has structured mentorship and entrepreneurship promotion programs. Such efforts have resulted in several technology companies visiting the campus. Through Connections 2016, the institute wants to expand to a more versatile group with a two-way communication and engagement model.
