IIT Guwahati to Conduct GATE 2018

Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) is all set to conduct GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) 2018. The official website of IIT Guwahati confirmed the same. The official notification of GATE 2018 examination and other related details are expected to be released in the first week of August 2017. Usually, GATE examination takes place in the month of February. Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) conducted GATE 2017 examination.

Opportunities after GATE:

• GATE score is mandatory for the admission to M.Tech programme in IITs & NITs. Various other institutes also consider GATE score for the admission to M.Tech programmes.
• The candidates who appear for GATE examination must score the minimum cut-off mark prescribed to be eligible to seek admission.
• Once a candidate qualifies the GATE examination, the scorecard for him/her is valid up to three years for seeking admission to M.Tech programmes.
• M.Tech degree enhances the opportunities for the students and familiarizes them with a better knowledge on the specific subject.
• GATE score will also help the candidates to secure jobs in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
• However, GATE score is valid only for one year if candidates are aiming at PSUs.
• PSUs offer high salary packages i.e. around 50k per month.
• The candidates who have completed B.Tech can seek admission to Ph.D. programme if they have a valid GATE score.
• Through GATE score, the candidates can also seek admission to Fellowship Programme in Management (FPM). It is a five-year programme available at IITs.
