President Ram Nath Kovind Address Seventh Convocation of IIT Hyderabad
The seventh convocation of IIT Hyderabad took place on August 05, 2018. President of India Ram Nath Kovind was the Chief Guest of the occasion.
IIT Hyderabad (Indian Institute of Technology) organised its seventh convocation ceremony on Sunday, August 05, 2018. President of India Ram Nath Kovind was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, President Kovind pointed out that the best scientific universities and institutes should not be treated as mere degree factories or teaching shops. Instead, these institutes/ universities are sources of incubators and innovation of technology and technology-driven start-ups, he highlighted.
President Kovind explained that the knowledge ecosystem of public investment in private enterprise, commercial applications, research laboratories, academic institutes/ universities and science has a great potential. An example of that is the Silicon Valley in the United States (US) which comprises of science and technology campuses, talented faculty and students, he cited.

President of India further advised IIT Hyderabad to be relevant to the fourth industrial revolution, which is going to make a strong impact in the 21st century. Being a second-generation institute, IIT Hyderabad has to learn and borrow from the models of the past. He appreciated IIT Hyderabad for setting up a network of centres for the promotion of entrepreneurship and research.
President Kovind indicated that IIT Hyderabad is located in a metropolitan area where several elements for knowledge ecosystem exist. All the scientific entities working in Hyderabad are doing a remarkable job in developing the latest technologies in the field of science and technology, appreciated the President.

Governor of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh - ESL Narasimhan, Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana – Kadiyam Srihari and others were present at the seventh convocation of IIT Hyderabad.
