IIT Hyderabad Participates in Festival of Innovation (FION) 2017 at Delhi
The students from IIT-Hyderabad presented their work in various areas that include digital preservation of monuments, preservation of culture through animation and design for education.
Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad took part in the third Festival of Innovation or FION 2017 that was held at Rashtrapathi Bhavan on March 8, 2017. The Design Innovation Centre (DIC) of IIT-Hyderabad took part in the event and displayed various projects of DIC.
The main aim of FION is to foster, recognise and reward the young innovators. The festival also focuses on creating a vibrant ecosystem that will enable the students to thrive. FION stresses on the necessity to learn, share experiences in design and discuss various ways of development that will help in delivering unique and inclusive innovations for the society.

The students from IIT-Hyderabad presented their work in various areas that include digital preservation of monuments, preservation of culture through animation and design for education.
One of the students explained that the main aim of the project on preserving the culture of Telangana through animation is to recreate culture and history of Telangana. The project can be done only through virtual reality animation that gives viewers a unique interactive experience of 360-degree animation. The project also focuses on preserving the culture of Telangana through animation film.

The digital preservation of monuments is a project that focuses on preserving, documenting and conserving historical monuments. The speciality of the project is that it translates the physical experience of people who visit these monuments into a digital medium. The project recreates the digital experience.
Speaking about the projects, Prof. John Mathew, Associate Professor at IIT-Hyderabad revealed that the main aim of DIC is to inculcate the innovative technology in design innovation.
