IIT Hyderabad to Set-up Chip Design Centre
To equip the students with hardware storage facilities, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad in association with IESA will set up a national-level chip design centre.
To equip the students with hardware storage facilities, Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad, in association with India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), will set up a national-level chip design centre that will benefit both the start-ups and the students of the institute.
The centre will be the first of the three such facility centres in the country. IESA represents electronics system design & manufacturing industry in the country. The centre will offer necessary hardware as well as storage facilities and will be established in co-operation with the central and state governments.

K. Krishnamoorthy, IESA chairman said that a special purpose vehicle will be created for this initiative. The second facility centre would be established in North India. Each of the facility centre will come at an investment of INR.35 crore. The main emphasis is on supporting the start-ups in the state and to facilitate the merger of the chip design centre into the curriculum for the benefit of the students.
He was interacting with the media on Thursday, February 16, 2017, after the launch of the IESA’s Hyderabad chapter in association with Moschip Semiconductor Technology.
The chapter proposes to boost hardware, electronics, and semiconductor start-ups as well as other business firms in the state and provide the required support and information. It will also help the aerospace and defence manufacturing segments.
IESA has its headquarters in Bengaluru and regional offices in Delhi and Chennai. IESA also plans to open its chapter in Pune. Already the Delhi Chapter has an incubation facility for the entrepreneurs hailing from electronics field.

IESA also plans to set up National ESDM Technology & Research Academy in 12 states of the country that includes Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.
