IIT JEE Advanced 2018 Format to be Similar to GATE; New Rules Introduced
- IIT JEE Advanced 2018 will be conducted on a similar line of GATE and rules have been laid down for the same.
- This is the first time that JEE advanced will be conducted in computer-based mode and the conducting body is IIT Kanpur.
IIT JEE Advanced 2018 will be organized by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur, on May 20, 2018. According to the latest reports, the rules of the exam have been framed on the lines of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).
This is the first time that JEE Advanced will be conducted in online mode and candidates are still confused about the rules. According to the rules laid down in the initial proposal, candidates will be permitted to occupy their seats 30-40 minutes before the exam begins. Following are the details of the JEE Advanced 2018 exam rules.

JEE Advanced 2018 Exam Rules:
- Candidates can take their seats at the exam centre 30 to 40 minutes before the exam begins and start reading the exam instructions 20 minutes before the exam begins.
- The authorities also made it clear that candidates will not be permitted inside the exam hall after 9:30 am for the morning slot and after 2:30 pm for the afternoon exam slot.
- Candidates will not be permitted to exit from the exam hall before the test has been concluded, as notified by the IIT JEE sub-committee.
- Candidates will be provided with scribble pads for rough work during the exam but they will have to submit them at the end of the exam.
- Candidates are not allowed to mess up with the computer system or the wiring in any way. Candidature of the candidates will be cancelled if they are found tampering with the computers.
- Candidates will also be able to access a virtual calculator that will be provided on their computer screen during the examination.
- However, candidates will not be allowed to bring their own calculators, watches, mobile devices or any other electronic devices.

These rules were laid down during the meeting of the IIT JEE sub-committee. All these proposals were also forwarded to the Joint Admission Board for approval and further guidance. JEE Advanced 2018 will be conducted in online mode in order to ease the evaluation process and reduce discrepancies.
