IIT JEE Main 2018 Difficulty Level to be Same as Last Year: CBSE

  • CBSE has announced that there will be no change in the difficulty level of the JEE Main 2018 exam.

CBSE, the conducting body of JEE Mains 2018, has announced that there will be no changes in the difficulty level of the exam. The board also said that the JEE Main 2018 exam will be on similar to the exams conducted in the last few years.

According to a statement released by the CBSE, the complete JEE Main syllabus of chemistry, physics and mathematics will be covered in the questions that will be asked in the exam. Subject experts who constructed JEE Main exam pattern in the past have been appointed to structure of the exam by dividing the syllabus into units. An equal number of questions will be picked from each unit, the statement added.

The statement also added that every set of question paper will comprise an equal distribution of easy, medium and difficult questions. This practice will be followed in order to ensure that the difficulty level of the exam will be same as the JEE exam conducted in the past few years.

CBSE will compose different sets of question papers for different shifts of the exam in order to prevent cheating and malpractices. Registration for the JEE Main exam has dropped for the fifth consecutive year. Close to 1.14 million candidates applied for the exam in 2018, i.e., 51,000 less as compared to registrations in 2017.

CBSE has also announced the rules for JEE Main on the official website informing the candidates that they will not be able to enter the exam hall for Paper 1 after 9:30 am and for Paper 2 after 2:30 pm. Revised rules for JEE Advanced have also been announced and exam will be on lines of GATE.

JEE Main pen-paper based exam and will be conducted across 112 cities in India as well as abroad on April 8. On the other hand, JEE Main computer-based exam will be across 258 cities in India on April 15 and 16, 2018. Students will be able to access their admit cards through the official portal of the exam.
