IIT Jodhpur Partners With NVIDIA to Set Up India’s Largest AI Supercomputer
The Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur has signed an MoU with NVIDIA which is a US Based company. Together, they will set up an AI Supercomputer, which is a first in India. The supercomputer will be available to use for various research-based activities.
India’s first and largest AI Supercomputer is ready to be set up at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between IIT-J and a US-Based company called NVIDIA. The MoU allows the institute to install the state of the art tech NVidia DGX-2, which is a 512 GB of GPU memory with an enterprise-grade AI infrastructure. This will make it the country’s first AI Supercomputer.
Santanu Chaudhary has stated that the supercomputer will be used to figure out solutions to the many challenges that have risen in the national technological growth of the country, in terms of infrastructure, scientific research and development, healthcare, education as well agriculture. There are many more fields that the supercomputer will look into once it has been initiated. He also added that the company will be helping the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur in the working of the supercomputer. For this, they will be conducting or hosting various technical workshops.

The steps, taken by both the Indian Institute of Technology and NVIDIA will ensure that the faculty members, the students as well as the technical staff of the Institute to understand the operation of the supercomputer as well as its simulation.

The Director further informed that the supercomputer will also be available to be used by other institutions in order to inculcate the spirit of research on scientific and technological projects. They also plan to use the supercomputer to collaborate with other global universities as well as research organisations in the world.
