IIT Kanpur to Conduct JEE Advanced 2018 on May 20

JEE Advanced 2018 will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur on May 20, 2018. The Joint Engineering Examination (JEE) Advanced is the entrance exam basis which admission is done to the B.Tech programmes offered by IITs.

In 2017, the JEE advanced exam was conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras on May 21, 2017. According to reports, IIT Kanpur is currently in the process of finalizing the events essential for conducting the exam.

Earlier in August 2017, it was also revealed that the JEE Advanced exam will be conducted completely in online mode from 2018. The decision was taken in the meeting of JAB that was conducted last month.

Chairman of JAB 2017 and Director of IIT Madras, Prof Bhaskar Ramamurthi confirmed that the exam will be conducted in online mode. He added that further information regarding the exam will be released by the JAB after the details are finalized.

The JAB is the decision-making body of IIT admissions that introduces all the policies. Not long ago, the HRD Ministry had introduced the option of appearing for the JEE Main exam online. The CBSE is expected to release the dates for JEE Main 2018 exam by the end of 2017.

More than 11 lakh candidates appeared for the JEE Main exam in 2017 and 2.21 lakh of these candidates qualified to appear for the JEE Advanced.

In order to take admission in IITs, candidates have to clear JEE Main, as well as, the JEE Advanced exam. The latter is the main selection criteria for admission to the 23 IITs in the country. Whereas, JEE Main is the basis for admission to the NITs, IIITs and other regional colleges.
