IIT Kharagpur and Amazon Web Services Collaborate for AI Portal
The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and the tech giant Amazon Web Services have join hands for developing a National Artificial Intelligence Resource Portal. The portal will be accessible for all students, researchers, and practitioners in AI to access resources.
With this recent trend of AI taking over the world, one of the premier engineering institutes of India, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT-Kharagpur) has announced that they will be collaborating with the Amazon Web Services Inc, to build a National Artificial Intelligence Resource Portal. The portal will act as a resource bank containing the information required for development and learning possibilities in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The portal will be available to all the AI aspirants, including students, practitioners as well as researchers across the country.
With the idea of providing the AI aspirants with accessible and affordable resources in the field, sources state that users will be granted with access to computing facilities for AI experimentation and learning. The objective behind the initiative is to provide trainees in the respective field with a variety of information and “learning resources”
Professor Partha Pratim Chakrabarti IIT KGP, the brains behind the idea, stated that the partnership with the Amazon Web Service Inc (AWS) will immensely support in providing more accessible training modules in AI, while also reducing the obstructions faced while providing the same.
Professor Sudeshna Sarkar, who is the head of the Centre for AI at the Institute, stated that the change in the path of technological development has led to the increase in the demand for experts in the field of AI. He stated that the need for AI professionals and the resources as well will keep on increasing, therefore, the portal will help in meeting those demands. As students and AI aspirants will be able to access the training needed in the area.

The Vice-President of AWS Machine Learning and Engines, Bratin Saha announced that the company will be providing the institute with the resources required to carry out the initiative. He further added that with sufficient knowledge and experience in AI and machine learning they will be using their knowledge in the area to help the institute to carry out different activities.

Industry-Academia partnerships have been increasing across India. These partnerships not only help the students but also help in the overall growth of the country. Efforts made by the educational institutions to work with giants in the industry such as the one between IIT Kharagpur and Amazon Web Services, the educational system and learning outcomes change and adapt to the needs of the time.
