IIT-Kharagpur Launches Centre for Happiness
Currently, the courses are available only to the students of IIT-Kharagpur. The institute is planning to provide these courses for non-IIT students from 2017.
Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur has launched Centre for Happiness on September 25, 2016. The centre will offer courses in Happiness and Science of Happiness. The Centre will enrol around 60-70 students annually and offer micro-credit courses on the subject. Currently, the courses are available only to the students of IIT-Kharagpur. The institute is planning to provide these courses for non-IIT students from 2017.
The course will be offered at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels which include Stress Management, Science of Happiness and Coping with Loss and Positive Psychology. On the other hand, the Centre will offer Pedagogy Signals and Technology for Positivity and Meditation, Creative Arts and Positivity and Postive Psychology at MS/PhD level.

Director of IIT-Kharagpur, Chakrabarti said that Science has two fundamental aims. The primary objective of the science is to understand the nature. The secondary objective is to create an easier and better life. He mentioned that the institute has been working consistently to create a path to take the Science and Technology to the next level. He pointed that science is a study of consciousness.
IIT-K will also launch apps to ‘measure happiness’ and ‘calmness’. The process of developing these apps is underway and will be launched soon.
