IIT Kharagpur Student Awarded at a Green Energy Conference in France
- IIT Kharagpur B.Tech chemical engineering student Ankur Mehta represented the institute at International Conference on Clean and Green Energy in Paris.
- He was awarded the Best (Oral) Presentation Certificate for his work on biofuel production.
IIT Kharagpur's fourth-year B.Tech chemical engineering student, Ankur Mehta has recently been awarded a prestigious award in Paris. He was representing his college to compete for the Best (Oral) Presentation Certificate at the seventh edition of the International Conference on Clean & Green Energy (ICCGE).
The popular ICCGE is a platform where leading scientists and engineers from around the world gather together is present their research projects that consist of new theoretical and experimental approaches with respect to the environment and clean green energy in particular.

What is interesting here is that although undergraduate students participate in the conference in large numbers, making it to the top is rare. However, Ankur Mehta of IIT Kgp has made the institute proud with is extraordinary work and subsequent achievement in the field. He has emerged on top among other competing research scholars, senior faculty members etc.
The B.Tech chemical engineering student received the Best Speaker Certificate for his session on 'Energy and Power Engineering' that had representatives from eight countries. He worked on a project that focused on producing bio-ethanol from bamboo shavings.

Ankur expressed his deep gratitude towards his immediate research supervisor Professor Saikat Chakraborty of IIT Kharagpur's Chemical Engineering Department for his continued support and guidance on optimizing the process of biofuel production and coming up with something that can be put to commercial use. The institute also funded his travel and registration expenses for the Conference.
Going forward, Ankur can publish his paper in the 'IOP Conference Series: Earth & Environmental Science' or another journal titled 'Journal of Clean Energy Technologies'.
