IIT Kharagpur Launches 3rd Edition of Young Innovators Program 2019
IIT Kharagpur has started with the application for Young Innovators Program 2019. Young Innovators Program serves as a platform for young minds to innovate ideas and solve real-life problems.
Indian Institute of Technology (Kharagpur) has started with the application process for Young Innovators Program 2019. It is the third edition of the Young Innovators Program (YIP) which is hosted by IIT Kharagpur. YIP aims to recognize the creative ability of students studying in classes 8 - 10 towards sci-tech innovations. The YIP 2019 thematic areas are as follows:

Last year as well IIT Kharagpur hosted the final rounds of YIP (Young Innovators’ Programme), that witnessed the participation of high schools students across the country. The participants displayed their projects on ways to sort out the world’s problems. Out of 1,000 students, who cleared the second round, 70 students were able to make it to the final round. The two-day final round event took place on October 27 & 28, 2018.
During the final round, the teams made poster and model presentation of their ideas. An exhibition by the students was also part of the final round. The exhibition was open to all the visitors. Seven IIT (Kharagpur) faculty members judged the exhibits and ideas of the students. It was a great opportunity for the final round participants to expose their scientific quest. The event motivated the participants to pursue a career in scientific research. Last year, The finalists had a chance to attend a workshop on Robotics organised by IIT Kharagpur.

A total number of six domains have been identified for YIP such as biotech, product designing, hardware modelling, environment, food sciences, agriculture and energy. The event will take at IIT Kharagpur and renowned experts and professionals from the industry took part in the event.

Primarily, IIT Kharagpur received a tremendous response for YIP, which was launched in April 2018. It received proposals from more than 1,500 students. However, only 70 students made it to finals.
