IIT Madras Carbon Zero Challenge Attracts Students & Start Ups
IIT Madras Carbon Zero Challenge 2019 has received more than 850 registrations. The CZeroC provides students and starts up with an encouraging environment and offers them financial and mentor support.
IIT Madras second Edition of Carbon Zero Challenge (CZeroC), a platform aimed at encouraging environmental entrepreneurs, has attracted participants from across the country. The institute has received more than 850 registrations from students, startups and entrepreneurs.
The Carbon Zero Challenge is an initiative of IIT Madras in association with Virtusa and Shaastra 2019. Interested candidates can apply for the same latest by 22nd July 2018. The CZeroC 2018 was launched by IIT Madras on 5th June 2018 to celebrate the World Environment Day this year.

Prof. Indumathi M. Nambi, Civil Engineering Department, IIT Madras said that there is a dire need to develop indigenous and affordable technology which is India-centric and requires less energy and produces less waste. He further said that CZeroC 2019 is very different from other initiatives as it not only focuses on innovative ideas but also helps the best performing teams to build the same by providing them with a mentor and financial support. This helps them to market their idea by setting up start-ups.
The winning team of CZeroC 2019 will get an opportunity to get connected with IIT Madras Incubation Cell or will be offered Start-up support fund.

Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala, IIT Madras who is also an Advisor to CZeroC 2019 said that the innovation must go on and there is enough help available in the country to support such ideas.
