IIT Madras Launches Career Back 2 Women (CB2W) Initiative
The new programme launched at IIT Madras Digital Skills Academy will help the women get their career back on track after a break in their career.
An initiative by the name of “Career Back 2 Women” was launched by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras through its Digital Skills Academy. This initiative will help those women who had taken a break in their career and want to return to a technical profession. Through the CB2W initiative, more than 150 hours of training will be imparted to the women to help them put their career back on track. Each student will be given the freedom to choose a level and certificates will be awarded to the students on the basis of their chosen level.
According to a statement released by the Institute, the training will be offered by IIT Madras Digital Skills Academy in association with the Forensic Intelligence Surveillance and Security Technologies (FISST). A 20-hour programme by the name of “Back to Technical Track (BTCUBE)” will also be conducted that will help the participants understand the jargons and brief them about the recent technologies. The participants will be given a list of specialisations to choose from post completion of the programme.

According to the FISST Chief Mission Integrator and Innovator C. Mohan Ram, initially, 4 tracks will be offered to the students. Data Science and Big Data (Track 1), Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (Track 2), Cyber Security and Digital Forensics (Track 3) and Software Engineering and Programming in Python with MongoDB (Track 4). Each track has been divided into a Basic Module (40 Hours) and Advanced Module (90 Hours).
According to IIT Madras Director Bhaskar Ramamurthi, this step will help more women getting into STEM occupations and the positive impacts of the same can be seen in the near future. As per the Institute, all those who complete the advanced module in selected tracks will receive job placement assistance.
