IIT Madras to Offer Master's Programme in International Interdisciplinary Areas

IIT Madras is offering a master’s program in nine interdisciplinary areas as Energy Systems, Quantum Science & Technology, Robotics, Computational Engineering, Advanced Material and Nano-Technology, Cyber-Physical Systems, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, Complex system & Dynamics. Interested students from engineering backgrounds can apply to this program on the official website iitm.ac.in. The application process will be closing on 31st March 2022.

IIT Madras is the only institute to provide interdisciplinary courses to the students making them efficient to learn and work in the current areas that will define the future of global engineering and technology. Scholarships will be provided to international students with outstanding records.

The interdisciplinary degree will be given to the international students in the form of 12MP (International Interdisciplinary in master’s Program) and national students in the form of IDDD (Indian students through International Interdisciplinary Dual Degree).

Prof. Prathap Haridoss, (Dean Academic Courses) of IIT Madras said that the faculties have carefully selected courses that will be beneficial to the students coming from any field of engineering making them competent and strong candidates in the interdisciplinary area.

Prof. Kamakoti, director, IIT Madras said that it is a very exciting moment to introduce such niche programs, introducing students to a huge diversity and culture. This is an initiative in establishing a Vishwa guru status in India.

International students can apply to any of the 16 Master’s departments of IIT Madras. A dedicated research skill will make the candidates prepare for their Master's thesis work.
