IIT-Madras: Samsung Offers Package worth Rs.78 Lakhs to Student
As one of the biggest players in the smartphone industry, Samsung is actively participating in the Placement season 2016 at the Indian Institutes of Technology.
After Microsoft and Oracle, Samsung is placed next in the list of companies that are offering lucrative packages at IITs this placement season. Although Samsung is currently in a tight spot with its Note 7 blunder, the company is not backing down in its hiring procedure and has offered a package worth Rs.78 Lakhs at IIT Madras.

As one of the biggest players in the smartphone industry, Samsung is actively participating in the Placement Season 2016 at the Indian Institutes of Technology. A student from IIT-Madras was offered a package of Rs.78 lakhs per annum by Samsung.
IIT-Madras is not the only campus where Samsung is hiring. Among other IITs from where the company has selected 10 students are IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur and IIT Delhi. After Samsung, Uber was the company to offer the highest package at IIT Madras with a base salary of Rs.75 lakhs. The offer was made to only one student.
In 2016, 300 students have participated in the campus placements. So far, 10 companies have come to hire students from the institute and as few as 20 students have been given offer letters. The number is quite less as compared to the figures of 2015.

In 2015, close to 50 students had received offer letters by this time of the year. There has been a drop in the number of offers made at IITs in 2016. At some IIT even the number of visiting companies have reduced. Excluding startups from the placements have certainly affected the campus placements at IITs. The premier institutes are trying to balance the hiring by inviting various PSUs on campus.
