IIT Mandi, NSDC to strengthen Indian youth's potential in data science. The courses comprehend emerging technologies such as big data analytics and data science to expand the reach of skill- building, along with hands-on learning experiences.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi, on Monday 23rd May, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to launch digital courses for youth. The courses comprehend emerging technologies such as big data analytics and data science to expand the reach of skill- building, along with hands-on learning experiences.
NSDC, and the nodal agency under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), in partnership with IIT Mandi, will design the curriculum to suit student needs and market demands. As part of the Atmanirbhar India initiative, the agency will contribute to building capacity among teachers, trainers, and grassroots leaders of Indian youth by setting up Centres of Excellence (CoEs).

Innovative training models will be created jointly to enhance employability and cutting-edge learning opportunities. In order to implement the overall training programme on a ground level, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) will mobilize the candidates who wish to take up training offered by IIT Mandi.
Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Director of IIT Mandi stated that the institute, in collaboration with NSDC, has embarked on a long-term journey to share high-end skills with underprivileged youths, working professionals, and others. Ved Mani Tiwari, Chief Operating Officer and Officiating CEO of NSDC added that a technological revolution will propel the rest of the world's economy, and we have an amazing opportunity to build a skilled workforce for that future. Furthermore, the Covid-19 pandemic has necessitated the development of new skills while strengthening mechanisms for traditional job roles as a result of the pandemic.
