IIT-Roorkee Holds Annual Convocation, Invites Mukesh Ambani as Chief Guest
Addressing the students, Ambani said that the world would see various changes in the coming years and the youth of the country has the potential to usher in that change.
The convocation of Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee was held on September 30, 2016. Chairperson of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani attended the convocation ceremony as the chief guest. On this occasion, IIT-R conferred Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) degree to Mukesh Ambani.

A total number of 2,305 students were conferred degrees which included 292 PhDs as well. Prof. Pradipta Banerji, Director of the institute, mentioned that IIT-R is in the top place among all the IITs, and it awards the largest number of degrees in different disciplines.
Aashiq Muhamed, a B.Tech student, bagged the President's Gold Medal, a prestigious award which is awarded to the student who secures highest CGPA score.

On this occasion, the institute also felicitated Dr. Sajal Kanti Deb, Prof. Ranjan Malik, Dr. VM Sharma and Dr. Shirish Hari Sonawane, faculty of other institutes for their notable contributions and achievements in their respective fields.
