IIT Ropar Professor Wins NASI-Scopus Young Scientist Award 2017

- Dr. Rajendra Srivastava from IIT Ropar bagged a spot for his work on Catalysis from 110 applicants from all over the world.
Associate Professor and Head of the Department (Chemistry) at Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, Dr. Rajendra Srivastava has been awarded the prestigious NASI-Scopus Young Scientist Award 2017 for his vital contribution in the field of Chemistry. He was one among the other reputed scientists and researchers who have been chosen for the award. Mr. Rajendra Srivastava has been recognised for his exceptional work in the field of Catalysis, particularly heterogeneous catalysis.
NASI-Scopus Young Scientist Award is conferred to those who are below 40 years of age and have made a significant contribution in the field of science.

Speaking about the achievement, Dr. Rajendra Srivastava said that he was picked up for the prestigious award among 110 applicants across the country. He has been working towards developing synthesis strategies or a new class of nonporous materials to improve the physiochemical properties of the existing materials. Similarly, the synthesis and applications of mesoporous crystalline and microporous crystalline methods such as carbon materials, hybrid organo-inorganic materials, polyaniline, metal oxides and zeolites are being explored in his lab.
Dr. Rajendra Srivastava pointed that his research would have a high socio-economic impact on the global and national front. He hoped that his research work would play a significant role in addressing the challenges and problems that are being faced by the society. The Young Scientist award will encourage and support him to take up path-breaking research with a societal impact in future as well, he added.

Dr. Rajendra Srivastava completed his M.Sc in Chemistry from Gorakhpur University in Uttar Pradesh and then later did a Ph.D. degree from the University of Pune. He has published over 110 research papers, and has, to his credit, seven international patents. Catalysis Society of India conferred on him the Best Thesis Award in 2006 for his exceptional doctoral work.
