IITs Invite Banned Startups for Placements, Ignore AIPC Verdict
IIT Kanpur has invited a blacklisted health tech startup for a summer internship. Similarly, IIT Delhi violated the rule and invited Nowfloats Technologies.
The All-IITs Placement Committee (AIPC) has banned 31 startups in the month of August from the placements. The decision was taken at the AIPC meeting on August 14, 2016. However, most of the IITs ignored the decision taken by the committee and invited blacklisted companies for placement programmes.

The AIPC has blacklisted some of the following startups:-
- Zomato
- GPSK
- IndusInsight
- LexInnova
- Cashcare Technologies
- PepperTap
- Grofers
- Protea Medical
As per the sources, IIT Kanpur has invited a blacklisted health tech startup for a summer internships. The placement drive took place on August 29, 2016. Similarly, IIT Delhi violated the rule and invited Nowfloats Technologies on September 2, 2016. In the same way, IIT Madras, Guwahati and Kharagpur were also among those institutes that invited such companies to its campus recruitment drives.
However, the committee refused to comment on the issue. Earlier, the AIPC has also banned big data company Crayon Data’s offices in India and Singapore, which was later revoked.
Compared to last year, this year, a high number of companies were blacklisted by the committee for revoking and delaying the job opportunities. The employment opportunities offered by some of the companies were not genuine. A total number of 135 students were affected by these startups in the previous placement season.
