IITs Witness Full Occupancy in B.Tech Courses after 2012
As a result of thorough endeavours, no IIT in India sees a single seat vacant in B.Tech courses in 2019. The vacant seat traits were much higher in previous years after 2012.
After 2012, this year, for the first time, all the IITs in India have reported 100% occupancy in B.Tech streams in the institutes. The IITs were trying their heart and soul for filling all the B.Tech seats and the results have come out this year for flying colours. The statistics say that in the last 6 years, more than 100 seats remained vacant in many years unlike the current academic session of 2019-20 for B.Tech in IITs.
According to the Data released by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), the seats are not only 100% full but excess admissions have also been noticed in 23 Indian Institutes of Technology. The experts suggest, that the data released by MHRD has shown that the toral seats (roughly 620) allocated for the newly implemented 10% EWS (Economic Weaker Section Quota) have been filled this year as well. This is a remarkable achievement for the IITs to fill the EWS quota in the first year of implementation. The provisions for EWS came earlier in 2019 in the month of January.
According to the historical data of vacant seat records of B.Tech degree in all IITs show that there were 118 seats vacant in 2018, 110 in 2017, 96 in 2016, 32 in 2015, 3 in 2014 and as many as 149 in 2013.
