IITs Associate with the University of Alberta for Joint Doctoral Degree Programs
Under this collaboration, the students from these institutions will have the opportunity to undertake research in partner institutions for a period of six months to one year.
IIT Kharagpur, IIT Mumbai and IIT Roorkee have associated with the University of Alberta, Canada for Joint Doctoral Degree Programs (JDPs). Under this collaboration, the students from these institutions will have the opportunity to undertake research in partner institutions for a period of six months to one year. As per the official statement released by IIT Roorkee, the students who complete the programs will also be awarded a certificate at the end of the program.

As per the guidelines, both the institutions will be submitting two joint degree students every academic year who will be pursuing the Joint Doctoral degree programs. The professors from IIT and UAlberta will be acting as the joint supervisors who will be evaluating the projects to be undertaken by the students under the program.

In the meantime, both IIT and UAlberta will also be required to create a doctoral fellowship program through which the students will be provided with a stipend for monthly accommodation and meals for the JDPs students. As per the official statement released by IIT and UAlberta officials, the programs will be providing an opportunity for the doctoral students to acquire new skills. Moreover, the collaboration with an institute such as IIT will help to acquire new teaching, learning and research skills.
