India and Singapore to Sign MoU to Skill Indians in Aviation
India and Singapore will sign an MoU for setting up Centres of Excellence in Advance Skilling in Aerospace and Aviation sector. These centres will act as regional hubs for training Indian youth for overseas and domestic jobs in the aviation industry.
On Friday, February 22, 2019, Aerospace and Aviation Sector Skill Council (India) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Singapore Polytechnic and a Singapore-based company to establish skill development centres in India. The skill development centres in the field of aviation sector will play a vital role in training Indian youth in skills associated with the aviation sector. The skill centres will be set up in Bangalore and other major cities across the country, and these centres will act as regional hubs for training Indian youth for overseas and domestic jobs in the aviation industry.
The MoU will be signed at Aero India Show 2019, which is scheduled to take place from February 20 – 24, 2019 in Bangalore. The event is a significant platform for boosting business opportunities in the global aviation sector.

The Skill Development Centres, which will be jointly set up by Aerospace and Aviation Sector Skill Council (India) and Singapore Polytechnic are ‘Centres of Excellence in Advance Skilling’. These centres provide training and certification in sectors such as logistics, automotive, emerging technologies and aerospace & aviation. Singapore curriculum and standards shall be followed for imparting skill-based training in the aviation sector.
India’s High Commissioner in Singapore, Mr. Jawed Ashraf revealed that Aerospace and Aviation are the priority sectors under ‘Make in India’ and ‘Skill India’ programmes. These sectors require a huge workforce with advanced technical skills. At the same time, these sectors generate productive and remunerative employment opportunities. The state-of-the-art Trainer and Assessor Academics that will be set up as a part of this MoU will play a dominant role in meeting the industry requirements, he hoped.

Apart from the Aerospace and Aviation sector, Singapore has set up skill development centres in India in fields such as public administration and governance, urban planning, hospitality, retail etc.
